watercolor on paper
Private collection, Singapore
Whatever my subject, I need to find some aspect of
it, some visual aspect, that I can fall in love
with...usually something to do with the light and how the
subject is revealed and concealed by the fall of light.
A painter’s message, offered in color, line, and shape: “I
could not help falling in love with this.”
The great American teacher and portraitist, Robert Henri,
likened the act of painting to that of giving evidence.
"When we as artists experience a largeness and vitality
in our lives and our work", he said, "then the
evidence we give...our painting...has the possibility of
being of interest to our fellow beings."
I hope some of these images will be of interest to you.
